Presented as a world premiere at the 2025 Genoa Boat Show, the Stem 50 aluminum sailing cabin cruiser from Italian company Stem Marine surprised the public and the media. This ocean-going “long cruiser” that combines seaworthiness, premium construction, cutting-edge solutions, and elegant, comfortable spaces received a wide kudos.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stem 50’s world debut at the 2025 Genoa Boat Show<\/a><\/strong>, held from September 18th to 23rd, was truly extraordinary. It was well-attended and received a resounding response in terms of praise and enthusiasm<\/strong>. The Genoa show has always been one of the most eagerly awaited showcases in the Mediterranean<\/strong> for discovering the latest innovations in the sector<\/strong>. Among these, the new 15.85-meter aluminum sailing cabin cruiser launched by the Italian company Stem Marine<\/a><\/strong> was one of the big surprises of the 2025 edition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vessel immediately captured the attention of everyone: cruise enthusiasts, long-distance sailors, lovers of long sailing voyages, and ocean-going enthusiasts, including nautical professionals, specialized operators, and the industry media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a clear sign that offshore sailing is increasingly popular. The sailing community is not only hungry for innovation in this market segment, but also demonstrates an appreciation for well-designed, technologically advanced boats. An exciting debut after three years of work<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The presentation of the Stem 50<\/a><\/strong> in Genoa marked a decisive milestone, culminating three years of intense work<\/strong>. From the initial idea by Michele Corradi<\/strong>, Managing Director of the Medesano (Parma) company, to the official launch at the end of the summer in Marina di Pisa, the journey was long and intense. Months of design, by French naval architect Nicolas Purnu<\/a><\/strong>, and the definition of the sail layout with the consultancy of ocean sailor Luca Sabiu<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then came the great adventure of building a “significant” boat in terms of length, weight, and volume, but above all in terms of materials. The choice of aluminum was no coincidence<\/strong>. It harks back to the great French tradition of metal sailing cabin cruisers that have shaped the history of ocean cruising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We presented the Stem 50 as something completely new in the Italian nautical scene,” explains Michele Corradi<\/em>. “An aluminum cabin cruiser that, in terms of solidity and resistance, is an unparalleled material, especially in terms of safety. We want to support those owners who dream of long voyages and long cruises with a basic design that can be customized to their sailing needs<\/strong>.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An ambitious challenge for Stem Marine. “The Genoa Boat Show is an important milestone for us,” says Ezio Menna, founder and president of the company, “because we’re presenting a very special, superior sailing cabin cruiser. For years, we’ve been designing and building professional boats <\/a>for rescue, firefighting, and patrol, which we sell worldwide<\/strong>. With the Stem 50, we’re inaugurating a new section of the company dedicated to pleasure boating and sailing<\/em>. We’re doing so with this thoroughbred, solid long cruiser packed with innovative solutions and capable of navigating the Mediterranean as well as the world’s oceans.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onboard Visits: An Endless Stream of Enthusiastic Sailors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A nautical gem, the Stem 50, finally made a fine display during the Genoa Boat Show. It was moored on the docks of the marina in front of the stand set up for the occasion by Stem Marine. A welcoming space, designed to accommodate the staff, has become a true reference point for all visitors eager to see the boat up close<\/strong>, climb aboard<\/strong>, and request information<\/strong>. Right here, on September 18th, the team wanted to celebrate the official presentation of Stem 50 with the public and the beginning of a new adventure for the shipyard, entirely dedicated to sailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the days of the show, onboard visits, both pre-booked and organized on site, were virtually a continuous and uninterrupted flow. Curious sailors, of course, but also sailors with many miles under their belt, families spending their holidays on board, and seafarers dreaming of sailing around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading the meetings was Michele Corradi himself, tireless and meticulous in describing the technical choices, materials, and numerous innovative solutions. Among these, the “shed” roofing system<\/a><\/strong>\u2014retractable windows in the cockpit roof\u2014stand out, along with the systems, photovoltaic panels, battery banks, and the refined interior design, curated by master woodworker Davide Gelmini <\/strong>of Rawood<\/a><\/strong>. Also welcoming the visitors was Luca Sabiu, who oversaw the entire Stem 50 project as “Navigation Advisor.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During each visit on board, he revealed all the details of the sailing rig: from the Elvstrom<\/a><\/strong> sails to the A<\/a>n<\/a>tal<\/a><\/strong> deck fittings, up to the Gottifredi & Maffioli<\/a><\/strong>, describing the concept of \u201ceasy sailing\u201d<\/strong> that Stem 50 embodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media and Journalists on Board: Stem 50 in the Spotlight<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to welcoming visitors, the public, and potential owners, Stem 50 was the focus of enormous media attention<\/strong>. Journalists, editors of specialized magazines, YouTubers, and correspondents from major print and television outlets came aboard to conduct interviews and shoot in-depth videos. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting with the crew from Rai 1’s Tg1 news program, which aired a report on Stem 50 on the evening of September 18th. Then came the Ansa<\/a><\/strong> agency, SkyTg24<\/a><\/strong>, Corriere della Sera, and leading Italian sailing publications such as Il Giornale della Vela<\/a><\/strong>, Saily<\/a><\/strong>, The Boat Show and SoloVela.net<\/a><\/strong>. Journalists from design magazines were also there, attracted by Stem 50’s journey, competing in the Boat Show’s “Design Awards” competition. Finally, the valuable coverage provided by the show’s press office and television channel, which came aboard with its crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was truly an honor for Stem Marine and the entire Stem 50 team to receive so much attention from the media and industry professionals. It also signaled that with this captivating and ambitious new cabin cruiser, entirely “made in Italy<\/strong>,” the shipyard is headed in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Towards the “European Yacht of the Year Award 2026”<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In short, a winning choice, further evidenced by the fact that the Stem 50, even before its official debut, was shortlisted for the 2026 edition of the renowned \u201cEuropean Yacht of the Year Award<\/a>\u201d<\/strong>. It is the most important and influential international award in the world of boatbuilding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October, the boat will then leave the Italian coast and head for Port Ginesta, near Barcelona. There, it will host the jury’s technicians for a week of dockside and underway tests. The final event will be at the beginning of December, with the gala evening and the awards ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
