A new star is about to shine in the nautical firmament: the Stem 50. This is no ordinary sailboat, but a true embodiment of Italian ingenuity, forged by the experience and passion of the Stem Marine shipyard. The vessel, a 15.85-meter aluminum cabin cruiser, is preparing to make its triumphant entrance at the upcoming Genoa International Boat Show, scheduled for September 18th to 23rd.

Craftsmanship and an explorer’s heart

Behind the sleek lines and refined aesthetics of the Stem 50 lies a strong soul, tempered by Stem Marine‘s long tradition of building professional vessels. The Parma-based company, founded by Ezio Menna, is renowned for building rescue, firefighting, and patrol vessels—true workhorses that operate in demanding scenarios, ensuring safety and reliability.

It is precisely this solid foundation of expertise and know-how that has allowed Stem Marine to successfully meet the challenge of pleasure boating, creating a long cruiser that promises to stand up to the waves of any ocean.

A signature design for a thoroughbred long cruiser

The Stem 50 is not just the brainchild of a single designer, but of a truly talented team, expertly coordinated by Michele Corradi, Managing Director of Stem Marine and a passionate sailor. For the waterlines and interior design, the shipyard relied on the experience of Frenchman Nicolas Purnu, a former collaborator with the prestigious Marc Lombard studio. The sail setup and deck plan optimization were handled by Luca Sabiu, acting as Navigation Advisor.

Finally, master woodworker Davide Gelmini of Rawood oversaw the interior woodwork. This close-knit team successfully blended creativity, technical expertise, and a passion for the sea.

Safety and comfort, an inseparable pair

Aboard the Stem 50, every detail has been designed to ensure maximum safety and optimal comfort, even during the most demanding navigations. The protected and functional deck plan features a large cockpit covered by a hard top with integrated solar panels, a motorized windshield with “shed”, and strategically placed handrails. The outdoor galley and automatic swim platform at the stern contribute to a convivial and relaxing atmosphere.

Below the waterline, the full hull lines, double rudder, and crash boxes at the bow and stern demonstrate the attention to safety and stability.

“Easy Sailing”: because sailing should be a pleasure

The Stem 50 was designed to be easy to sail in all weather conditions, thanks to the “Easy Sailing” philosophy that guided its design. Rigging led back to the cockpit, electric winches and furling system, the absence of running wheels, and a well-sized set of sails allow for smooth and stress-free sailing. Special attention was also paid to energy management, with cutting-edge systems that guarantee high autonomy, ideal for those who enjoy spending long periods aboard.

A tailor-made “dress” for every owner

Another strength of the Stem 50 is its ability to adapt to the needs and tastes of every owner. The interiors offer extensive customization options, both in terms of layout and choice of materials. The shipyard provides a team of experts to help customers configure the boat of their dreams, building a relationship of trust that endures long after the vessel is delivered.

As Michele Corradi emphasizes, “Buying this boat means embarking on a journey with the shipyard that begins with the owner’s specific needs, their sailing style, their way of being on board, and then configuring the cabin cruiser accordingly.”

Stem 50 shortlisted for “Boat of the Year”

The Stem Marine team is proud to announce that the Stem 50 has recently been shortlisted for the renowned “European Yacht of the Year Award” for the 2026 edition.

Often referred to as the “Oscars of sailing,” this award was established in 2004 by the German magazine Yacht and is now supported by a jury of 12 leading publications from across Europe, including Voiles et Voiliers and Yachting World. The “European Yacht of the Year Award” is the most important and influential international award in the world of yacht building, and this nomination represents enormous recognition for the people who designed and developed this beautiful 15.85-meter aluminum cabin cruiser, unveiled in preview at the Genoa Boat Show.
